Dedicated Individuals Run One Dysfunctional School

Each morning the children file in to the Primary school in Ambarpur village. They go despite knowing that the day ahead will in all probability be a rough one. They have one teacher, no drinking water nor benches to sit on. VV-PACS Correspondent Rajkumar reports from Raebarelli District Uttar Pradesh. Shiv Kumar Tripathi, has been handling this dysfunctional all by himself since July 2013. He tries his best to make sure his students get what they come for. He says: "The Government needs to start schemes that employ people from rural areas to provide a quality education to all children at a low cost. This is so that there will at least be one teacher in each classroom." Despite the apathy shown to them by the government the individuals responsible for carrying out their tasks like teaching and feeding the children carry on with their duties. The children here deserve a proper education. You can make a call that will help them. Call to Action: Please call Mr Shivshankar, the Basic Education Officer on 09453004175 and ask him to ensure the school gets all the facilities it needs immediately. About the Partnership: The Poorest Areas Civil Society (PACS) Programme and Video Volunteers have come together to create the Community Correspondents Network. The videos generated by the network will be able to highlight voices from the margins, providing skills to social communicators to provide advocacy tools to community based organisations.
