Large sacks of grains lie rotting in a godown. Not too far away, the children in Puraina village have not been getting the mid-day meals at their local anganwadi (childcare centre). VV-PACS Correspondent Brahmajeet from Uttar Pradesh made this video report which consequently led to the children getting their daily meals.
For families who cannot afford to get their families, especially children two meals a day, the Government of India offers mid-day meals at all government schools and childcare centres.
For two months, the children at the Puraina centre were deprived of their meals. On taking the footage and testimonies of concerned parents to Ravindra Yadav, the Child Development Programme Officer, concrete action was taken.
"I am in charge of 369 anganwadis. After seeing the evidence on your camera, I can see that strict action needs to be taken against the care takers in Puraina and I promise to do so" said Mr Yadav.
And he did take action! Watch out for the Impact video.
