Muddy Monsoon Mayhem

Imagine having to sludge your way through 1 km. of wet mud everyday to get to school.  Imagine arriving all dirty and being sent back home by the teacher.  Imagine the authorities not doing anything about the dirt track that is the main road in your community.  This is the reality for residents of Dob Village, Chhindwara District, Madhya Pradesh.    You can change this situation for these residents NOW. We need you to put pressure on the Village Council Officer Tamia to build a proper road.  Please call:   Call to Action:  Village Council Officer Tamia District Chhindwara Madhya Pradesh Tel: 07149272303   VV-PACS Correspondent Anita Dhurve reports from Dob Village, Chhindwara District, Madhya Pradesh.Travelling on the village road is causing residents a lot of difficulties especially during monsoons.  The road despite being the main road of the village is only a temporary dirt track.  When it rains children’s uniforms get dirty from the thick sludgy mud, whichoften results in them being sent home from school for being inappropriately dressed.   The residents have beenproactive in trying to bring change. They have submitted an application to the secretary of thePanchayat (Village Council) office four times. However authorities have not paidany attention to it.  Instead other minor temporary roads have been permanently constructed.  This is why we need your help to put pressure on the authorities.   One of the residents told us, “The secretary said he will do a temporary construction and the cemented road will not be constructed at the moment.”   Our VV-PACS Correspondent Anita wants a permanent roadconstructed in this village so residents don’thave to face the same issues during monsoon and so children can get to school.   In a similarsituation your active participation has helped VV-PACS Community Correspondent Shabnam Begumto improve the transport infrastructure for residents of Bhavani Village Varanasi District in the Northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.  Watch the impacts video here.   Your contribution will bring change.
