VV-Correspondent Shila Sheikh reports from ManiyarChak village, Munger district, Bihar where the water hand pump has been broken for 10 years. The nearest hand pump is 1 K.M. in a place called Durga but it is often crowded there. Thus residents are having to collect water from the dirty Ganges river.
W. Paswana resident explains the effects the hand pump has on his daughter’s education, “
My daughter can’t go to school. She ends up missing her classes as she has to go to get water.”
Deepnarayan Das informs our Correspondent that they informed the Village Head countless times to no avail.
Our Correspondent Shila Shekh went to meet the Office of the Public work department, on 8
th January 2014. Here she met with MR K. K. Narayan, an officer who denied her an interview but assured her that a new hand pump will be installed as soon as possible. Shila still wants pressure to be put on Mr Narayan to ensure the completion of his word.
