The road in Karando village is in disrepair. When it rains it is treacherous to cross due to the potholes. There are no bridges constructed to help residents cross the many rivers. Dasiya Devi a resident explains, “When the rivers and streams are full, no doctors come to this village. This is why bridges and roads need to be constructed. There is a school but teachers do not come. Where will we send our children?”

VV-Correspondent Aparna Marandi reports about the terrible transport infrastructure in Karando village, Pirtand block, Giridih, Jharkhand where 200 families are affected. The village is surrounded by streams, rivers, forests and hills which means travelling during rains is impossible. Added to this thePublic works department (PWD) road that passes through the village has no bridges, to ease travel during flooding.
There are ditches and puddles in the road. Chou Ray a resident describes, “Not even a bicycle can go on this road, even people on foot slip and fall down.”
Residents have written to the village head and village representatives many times but they do not seem to be bothered. The road is very hazardous which means if someone is sick they cannot reach a doctor nor can a doctor come to them.
