9 houses are in shambles at Garha village in Majnoli panchayat of Jharkhand. Malti Devi and her family are among those affected. 'I live with my children here. What if the roof falls down? During monsoon, we have to live in someone else's house. We have approached the Village Head several times but 3 years have passed and nothing has been done yet. He asks us to build the house with our money for now and that he'll give it to us later. If we had had the money, we would have built the house already.'
Indira Awaas Scheme is for people like Malti who cannot afford to housing by themselves. The government of India's social welfare flagship programme aims to provide housing for the rural poor in India. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided for construction of houses.
Community Correspondent Vinti Vishwakarma has appealed to the Block Development Officer to help the families in Majnoli receive support under the Indira Awaas Scheme. You can help Vinti by calling and messaging the BDO on +91-9934935997 in support of her cause.
