At Chainpur village of Jharkhand, over 4,000 households were struggling for water as over 100 hand-pumps of the district had broken down. The residents’ endured dependency on only one hand pump for their daily chores, drinking water and water for their cattle, for two whole years. While there was no water in their taps, a water bill would always turn up without a fail.

Video Volunteers Community Correspondent Pramila Ekka of Jharkhand met with the residents of Chainpur and motivated them to take corrective action for their problems. Along with her, the community members approached the Block Development Officer of the district and held a meeting with them, explaining him their predicament.

Pramila showed him the video report which documented the issue. Thanks to the proactive steps by the community and Pramila, the hand pump was fixed within two weeks from when the complaint was made.
