IMPACT | VV Correspondent Intervenes to Restore Water Supply to a Hamlet in Rajasthan

Video Volunteers correspondent Shambhulal Khatik has been working in Delwara, Rajasthan to solve local issues of villagers and members of local communities.

Recently, he created a video report that helped about 60 households in the hamlet of Barawa in Rajsamand district get water supply.

Barawa, which lies in Kaliwas panchayat of Rajashtan's Rajsamand district, was not receiving water from the municipal authorities. There was either no supply or it was irregular with no fixed timings. The hamlet's hand pump too was out of order. Women of Barawa, who are traditonally engaged in cooking and cleaning duties of the household, were facing a lot of problems.

Hence, they got together with Shambhu and with his help, submitted an application along with a video report to the local tehsildar in Delwara, Rajasthan.

The authorities took timely action and now municipal water supply has been restored. They have also extended the availability of water to three hours as against the previous duration of one hour. The local hand pump too has been repaired and residents, especially women of Barawa are now happy.
