Mentally Challenged Dalit Woman Allegedly Raped in Puri, Odisha

A mentally challenged woman from the Dakhina Bhoisahi area of Puri in Odisha was allegedly raped by a local man. The incident came to light after one of the woman's relatives saw her being accompanied by a man into the nearby forest. He informed others who found her in the forest after a two-three hour search. She was half-naked when she was found and the rapist had left the scene by that time.

Tikina Bhoi, the survivor's aunt says the survivor had gone to the forest for defecation and was returning home when the accused started following her and took her deep inside the forest area where the crime was committed.

The survivor was accompanied by her relatives and police to the local hospital for a medical check-up the next morning. An FIR was registered and a scientific team was at the crime spot to gather evidence against the accused. The investigation is on and the relatives demand the hearing to be in a fast-track court.

If you wish to support the survivor in her quest for justice, call on the number provided at the end of the video to put pressure on the authorities to speed up the trial.
