BulandBol is a media course offering free training to citizens anywhere to become the voice of their communities. You will gain the skills to produce videos and social media content on your smartphone, and to publicize your content widely. 

The program takes place entirely online, through a series of Zoom trainings, and will be beneficial to people who are experienced digital natives or just learning to use digital tools. No experience is necessary, however, you do need a smartphone and an Internet connection. The program is free of cost, and all participants will get a certificate and the opportunity to participate in joint social media campaigns, where the collective voice of active citizens can be heard across the Internet.

What is Buland Bol?

Buland Bol is a movement to empower the voices of the marginalized communities in India. It offers free training and mentoring for interested citizens who are interested in becoming a digital changemaker.

What are the benefits of joining Buland Bol?

You will become the voice of your communities. You will be trained to use video and social media to further your cause. You will have a strong social media presence which will build your identity.

Who can be part of Buland Bol?

• Indian citizens above 18 years of age. 
• You need to have your own smartphone.
• You need one or more of a social media account – FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter
• You need to be passionate about community issues and an interest in solving social problems.

What are the trainings on?

There are several training modules available for the Buland Bol Volunteers:

• How to make a good short video
• Effective use of Facebook for distribution and engagement
• Effective use of Instagram and Twitter
• Editing video in smartphone

How long will the training run?

There are 4 training modules of 2-4 hours each that each volunteer has to complete. A volunteer will be able to produce social media content after the first two modules. There will be many more training modules available for those who are interested in further learning.

Do I need to pay for the training?

No. All training is FREE.

What do the Video Volunteers do after the training?

The VV’s are expected to make short videos and other digital content on social issues that concern them and their communities. The videos are made for the purpose of raising awareness on that issue.

Where will the videos be shared?

The VV’s will share the videos on their respective Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. All content will be tagged as #BulandBol. Video Volunteers will re-share and promote the videos on all its social channels.

Will the Video Volunteers be paid?

No. This is voluntary work. However, deserving volunteers maybe selected and trained to become a Community Correspondent who are paid for the videos they make.

Do I need to own a smartphone to be a part of the program?

YES. Those who do not have a smartphone cannot be accepted into Buland Bol.

Is the training online or at a physical location?

Training is online and will be conducted on Zoom. In the future, there will be in-person training as well.

Who runs Buland Bol?

Buland Bol is a program of Video Volunteers.

Is Buland Bol a News Network?

No. Buland Bol is NOT a news network. It is a program that enables citizens to create social media content on issues that are close to their hearts. 

Will Buland Bol give an identity card?

No.

What protection will you give us while reporting?

Buland Bol is not for “reporting”. But, we will be training on safety protocols – how to create and publish content in a safe way.

Will we get any equipment?
No. You will need to have your own smartphone.

How many videos will we have to make and publish?

There is no fixed number. But, it is important for you to be regular on social media. So, you should be ready to create at least one short content every week.

How long will the Buland Bol program run?

Buland Bol does not have an end time. We intend it to be a movement of community voice.
