A small village of about 1500 people - Pathrai in Uttar Pradesh's Lalitpur district has decided to completely boycott the state elections this time. They say that they have been requesting the panchayat, state administration to build a road for years. But nothing has changed for them yet.
"I have been sending applications since 2012-13 for road construction. But nobody listens to us. Even the most basic facilities are absent in this village. The local school is only till fifth standard. No teacher comes here ever," said a local resident whom our Community Correspondent Shankarlal Raikwar spoke to.
Villagers say that six women lost their child in 2021 alone as absence of roads couldn't get them on time for their delivery. Fed up of all this, the villagers including the elderly and children are protesting and have decided to boycott Uttar Pradesh state elections.
