Gangi Munda, aged 64 years, lives in Andharikol village of Deogarh district in which 50 families belonging to indigenous adivasi community reside. Gangi , though eligible for pension under Madhu babu Pension Scheme , has been deprived of the benefits of this scheme for years. She has applied more than five times in a span of four years , but in vain. As a result of this, today she can’t purchase essentials including medicine. Madhu Babu Pension Yojana is a flagship pension scheme of state government of Odisha to provide pension to old age, widows and handicapped persons. It was formed in 2008 by merging two pension schemes namely, Revised Old Age Pension Rules, 1989 and Disability Pension Rules, 1985. Under this scheme, those above age of 60 years get 300 rupees and those above 80 years get Rs 500 on a monthly basis. All eligible residents in Andharikol village have been getting the same, but not Gangi Munda and for undclosed reasons. Community Correspondent Dasarathi Behera made this video to appel to the viewers to call Purna Chandra Das, Block Development Officer of Deogarh distrcit at 8763098900 and pressurize him so that Gangi Munda could get her Old Age Pension soon. |
